“New Girl” actress Zooey Deschanel gave a brief tutorial showing off her seamstress skills as she showed viewers how to make their own masks to stay protected during the coronavirus pandemic.
Many cities have begun enforcing the use of face masks if people leave their homes for the essential trips.
Deschanel prefaced the tutorial saying, “I started sewing when I was 15 years old because it was cheaper to buy fabric and make clothes rather than buying them in the store.”
“A lot of clothes that I wore in high school came from old Christmas stocking fabric that I found in the basement. So, if all of my high school friends were wondering why I wore red velveteen all the time, that’s why,” she joked.
The actress said she learned some of her sewing techniques from one of her friends from high school while making her lemon-decorated mask.
