“The Tick” has been canceled after two seasons at Amazon.
Series creator Ben Edlund broke the news on Twitter. “I’m sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with [‘The Tick’],” Edlund wrote. “I’m not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.”
Edlund is the creator of the comic book on which the show was based. Peter Serafinowicz starred as the title character, a nigh-invulnerable superhero who fights crime in The City dressed as a massive blue tick. He is assisted in his quest for justice by Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), a normal human who uses a moth-like suit in order to serve as The Tick’s sidekick. The series also starred Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Scott Speiser, Yara Martinez, and featured the voice of Alan Tudyk as Dangerboat. Jackie Earle Haley appeared in the first season as the supervillain The Terror.

Edlund served as executive producer along with David Fury, Barry Josephson, Wally Pfister, and Barry Sonnenfeld. Serafinowicz served as producer along with Patrick Warburton, who played The Tick in the live-action Fox series back in 2001.
The series was well-received by critics upon its release in 2016. Season 1 averaged a 90% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Season 2 got a 100%.
