Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Official Trailer Debuts Ahead of Cannes Premiere

The height of Hippy Hollywood is in full swing in the official trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

Sony released the new footage ahead of the movie’s highly anticipated premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Tarantino’s ninth feature stars Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Margot Robbie.

The premise of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” has been kept mostly under wraps, though Tarantino says it’s set in the late 1960s against the backdrop of the Manson family murders. DiCaprio plays washed up TV star Rick Dalton, while Pitt portrays his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Things look bleak for Rick, that is until he meets his next-door neighbor Sharon Tate (Robbie). It’s unclear if Tarantino’s story will deviate from history, which unfolded with Tate, who was pregnant at the time, killed at the hands of Manson’s followers at her home in 1969.

The film also stars Emile Hirsch, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, and Kurt Russell. Tarantino has scored three Oscar noms and two wins between his work on “Pulp Fiction,” “Inglourious Basterds,” and “Django Unchained.”

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” hits theaters July 26, about two months after its Cannes debut and 50 years after the infamous Manson-LaBianca murders.
