Pamela Adlon Celebrates ‘Better Things’ Season Finale With Her Kids

Pamela Adlon’s three daughters surprised her during a recent appearance on Variety’s After-Show presented by National Geographic — knocking on their mom’s office door during the live interview on Instagram.

“Congratulations!” they shouted while popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate the Season 4 finale of Adlon’s FX series “Better Things.”

A teary-eyed Adlon admitted she became quite emotional watching the finale earlier in the evening.

“It just killed me,” she said. “It’s very many feelings.”

The series, based on Adlon’s life as a single mom, hasn’t been officially picked up for a fifth season. Even if it had, Adlon says she’s not ready to start writing new scripts because there are too many unknowns in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

“How do you write the show right now?” she said. “What is the world going to look like? Can somebody kiss somebody? Can we shoot a scene in Dodger Stadium? Can we shoot a scene in New Orleans? Can we do all these things?”

Adlon will next be seen in Judd Apatow’s comedic drama “The King of Staten Island.” Pete Davidson stars in the film, which is partially based on his life. Adlon portrays the ex-wife of the man (Bill Burr) who starts dating Davidson’s mom (Marisa Tomei). “The King of Staten Island” is skipping its planned release in theaters and will instead debut straight on video-on-demand in June.

“I love him,” Adlon said of Davidson. “He was just a beautiful sweet creature. I recently saw a little film of a little bay turtle born with its heart outside of his body thumping and that reminds me of Pete Davidson.”
