The original cast of Broadway’s Tony-winning musical “Rent” will virtually reunite on June 28. The performance is part of Broadway Celebrates Pride, a virtual fundraiser for Democratic congressional candidates.
Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin Vega, Taye Diggs, Jesse L. Martin and Adam Pascal will perform “Seasons of Love” at Broadway Celebrates Pride. They will be joined by Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Fredi Walker and other ensemble members of the founding production.
Broadway Celebrates Pride is one of four political fundraisers for Hold the House, a series hosted by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
John Legend executive produced the event, which was directed by Erich Bergen. Broadway Celebrates Pride will also include appearances by Billy Porter, Ben Platt, Cyndi Lauper and the stars of “Queer Eye.”
Hold the House kicked off on June 20 with the Ultimate Women’s Power Party, featuring Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence. The third, EGOT the Vote: Party With Living Legends, takes place July 12 and will be produced by Bruce Cohen. Details on the final installment, on July 19, have not been announced.

- The line-up for Projects Angel Good’s Lead With Love Telethon on Saturday, June 27 includes appearances and performances by Annie Lennox, Kristin Chenoweth, Zachary Levi, Margaret Cho, Kelly Clarkson, CeeLo Green, Deborah Cox, Loni Love, Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin and Billy Idol. The two event, executive produced by Brad Bessey and airing on KTLA 5, will be hosted by Eric McCormack, Sheryl Lee Ralph and KTLA news anchor Jessica Holmes.
- The 2020 JDRF “Reimagined” Imagine Gala: One Hour, One Cause on June 27 raises funds for diabetes research. Bebe Rexha, Ozomatli and RaeLynn will perform.
- Partial proceeds from the one-day Glamhive Digital Summer Bazaar on July 11 will go to the NAACP. Leading Hollywood stylists and makeup artists, hair stylists, designers and entrepreneurs will participate in panels about diversity, sustainability, female leadership and more.
- Bob Balaban will direct a staged reading of “Same Time, Next Year” starring Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin on July 12. Proceeds benefit Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York. The arts center has been closed since March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
