Jeff Goldblum Recounts Sneakers, Ice Cream, BBQ and Landing an Emmy For His Disney Plus Show — Variety Streaming Room

Jeff Goldblum is currently in London, as he starts shooting the new “Jurassic World” movie, utilizing proper COVID-19 safety precautions. But he took a moment to speak with Variety’s Michael Schneider, in the Variety Streaming Room, to discuss his Emmy-nominated National Geographic series “The World According to Jeff Goldblum,” now streaming on Disney Plus.

Goldblum pulls the thread on deceptively familiar objects and unravels a wonderful world of astonishing connections and fascinating science and history. In Season 1, Goldblum explored the worlds of sneakers, tattoos, ice cream, denim, BBQ, gaming, bikes, RVs, coffee, cosmetics, pools and jewelry.

“The World According to Jeff Goldblum” brought the streaming service its first Emmy nomination for outstanding hosted nonfiction or special. And he’s only just beginning. Season 2 of “The World According to Jeff Goldblum” is in the works, but production had to be halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We had a little bit more to shoot, and then this whole thing happened,” he explained. “So now we’re talking about — and we’ve stayed in contact the whole time — and are talking about when and how and more excitedly than ever and enthusiastically than ever exactly how we’re going to go back just logistically and safely and when on the calendar.”

Followed by an exclusive screening of the “Sneakers” episode, the “Jurassic Park” star joined Schneider in the Variety Streaming Room to discuss the making of and takeaways from the docuseries. He shared updates on a second season of the show and spoke of his other projects with National Geographic.
