The battle of the period pieces is usually how this category shakes out but the branch has been known to go contemporary every now and again (i.e. “The Devil Wears Prada”), perhaps that hope can live upcoming efforts from Ruth E. Carter and Jane Petrie.

The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars is Hollywood’s most prestigious artistic award in the film industry. Legendary costume designer Edith Head runs the gauntlet in the costume category netting eight wins over 35 career nominations and unsure if anyone would ever catch up. Milena Canonero and Colleen Atwood have four wins each.
