Poorna Jagannathan and Casey Thomas Brown are starring in Megan Griffiths’ “I’ll Show You Mine.”
The dramedy, a Duplass Brothers Production, centers on Priya Sura, an author who has made a career of examining her own trauma, as she sits down to interview her nephew Nic for a new book about his history as a model who challenged gender norms and embraced his pansexuality in a very public forum. Their ensuing conversation, which takes place over the course of one intense weekend, forces each of them to reveal much more than expected and confront some of their most deeply hidden secrets.
Griffiths is a Seattle-based writer-director whose previous feature directorial credits include “Sadie,” “Lucky Them,” “Eden” and “The Off Hours.” She has also directed episodes of television, including “Animal Kingdom,” “Room 104” and “Panic.” A protege of Lynn Shelton, Megan was a co-producer of “Your Sister’s Sister” and directed last year’s “Her Effortless Brilliance” tribute to Shelton, the indie director of “Humpday” who died in 2020 at the age of 54 of a previously undiagnosed blood disorder. “I’ll Show You Mine” is dedicated to Shelton.
“Making this film has been a beautiful, collaborative journey,” Griffiths said in a statement. “We started with a fantastic script, and every member of our team contributed to creating an environment that was conducive to vulnerability and risky, revealing performances. Many of us have spent time on sets with the late Lynn Shelton, and her ethos felt very present throughout the making of this project.”
Jagannathan is best known for her portrayal of Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar in Mindy Kaling’s “Never Have I Ever,” which premiered on Netflix in April 2020 and returns for its second season this July. She is also known for her role as Safar Khan in HBO’s “The Night Of.” Other credits include Hulu’s “The Act” and “Ramy,” and HBO’s “Big Little Lies.”
Brown recurs on the Chuck Lorre/Netflix comedy series ”The Kominsky Method” and appeared in the final season of Showtime’s ”Shameless” as well as on Paramount Plus’ “Tell Me a Story.”
The screenplay for “I’ll Show You Mine” was written by Tiffany Louquet, Elizabeth Searle and David Shields. The film is produced by Mel Eslyn, Lacey Leavitt, Ashley Edouard and Griffiths, and executive produced by Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass. The film recently wrapped production. ICM is handling sales.
“Megan is not only one of the most gifted directors I’ve ever worked with, she is also one of the most genuinely kind-hearted and soulful individuals I’ve ever met,” said Mark Duplass. “Some projects check all the boxes. This is one of them.”
