“Good Girls” has been canceled after four seasons at NBC, Variety has learned.
The drama series was the last remaining question mark in NBC’s scripted lineup from the 2020-2021 season. The broadcaster also recently axed the dramas “Manifest,” “Debris,” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.” Like “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and “Manifest,” there had been talks about finding “Good Girls” a new home on a streaming platform, but that move ultimately did not work financially.
There are five episodes remaining of “Good Girls” Season 4, with the show airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. In the season, the Secret Service closes in the main characters’ counterfeit ring. Beth (Christina Hendricks) was struggling to carve out her own criminal path separate from Rio (Manny Montana), using her husband’s spa company, Boland Bubbles, as a front. Ruby (Retta) seemed to have salvaged her marriage after a rocky road, but only time will tell if her hidden secrets implode. Annie (Mae Whitman) is focusing on inner love and healing as she takes the journey to rebuild independence.
The series also starred Reno Wilson, Lidya Jewett, Isaiah Stannard, and Matthew Lillard. Jenna Bans created the series and served as an executive producer along with Mark Wilding, Bill Krebs, Carla Banks-Waddles, and Michael Weaver. Bans and Krebs were also co-showrunners on the series.
NBC renewed the following shows for the 2021-2022 season: “The Blacklist,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Kenan,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Mr. Mayor,” “New Amsterdam,” “Transplant,” and “Young Rock.” It was previously announced that “This Is Us” will end with its sixth season, while “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is set to end with its upcoming eighth season this summer.
