Jeff Bridges Reveals ‘The Old Man’ First Look, Gives Cancer and COVID Update

Jeff Bridges, star and executive producer of FX’s upcoming drama “The Old Man,” shared some first footage of the series and said that he’s “feelin’ better” after struggles with cancer and COVID-19.

“My cancer is in remission — the 9” to 12” mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble. My COVID is in the rear view mirror,” he said in an update on his personal website

“COVID kicked my ass pretty good, but I’m double vaccinated and feeling much better now,” he continued, following up on a post from March where he explained that he contracted COVID-19 at the same place he was receiving chemotherapy for his lymphoma. “I heard that the vaccine can help folks with long haulers. Maybe that’s the cause of my quick improvement.”

In the post, Bridges also shared that he’s “excited to get back to work on ‘The Old Man!’ It’s lookin good. Here’s a peek…”

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry, “The Old Man” centers on Dan Chase (Bridges), who left the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.

In the new clip, his character Chase is in a dark room in what appears to be his home, wielding a gun and discovering a man writhing in pain on the floor after being attacked by two large dogs. Chase calls off the dogs, then asks, “You wanna tell me your name?” He receives no answer and shoots the man twice.

“The Old Man” is slated for a 2022 premiere.
