Jason Kilar, Former WarnerMedia CEO, Joins Roblox Board of Directors

Jason Kilar, who exited as CEO of WarnerMedia after Discovery closed the acquisition of the media company last year, has joined the board of directors of online game platform Roblox. Kilar’s appointment to Roblox’s board was effective Sept. 13.

Kilar is entrepreneur and executive who has led media and entertainment companies for more than 15 years. Kilar was hired as CEO of WarnerMedia when it was still owned by AT&T, and served in the role from May 2020 until April 2022, Prior to that, he was co-founder and CEO of online-video startup Vessel Group and was co-founder and the first CEO of Hulu.

“Jason Kilar is a well-respected leader in the entertainment and media industry, and his experience in the space is of value to the Board as Roblox continues to scale globally,” David Baszucki, chairman and CEO of Roblox, said in a statement.

Kilar commented, “I am honored to join Roblox, a company I have long admired and cheered from afar as they leaned into the future. Roblox is changing the way people come together and changing how creators can create delightful experiences for them. I am excited to join the board and do all I can to help bring Roblox’s vision to life.”

On the Roblox board, Kilar joins Baszucki, lead independent director Anthony Lee, and board members Gregory Baszucki, Christopher Carvalho, Gina Mastantuono and Andrea Wong.

Kilar also serves on the boards of investment services firm Wealthfront and Opendoor Technologies, which operates an online platform for buying and selling real estate. Kilar holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
