Just hours after appearing at the Laugh Factory’s Thanksgiving feast event, comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish was arrested in Beverly Hills early Friday morning.
Lt. Chris Coulter of the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed that Haddish is being booked on DUI charges. Haddish fell asleep behind the wheel in the middle of Beverly Drive, TMZ reported, around 5:45 a.m.
She was arrested in Georgia on a similar charge in early 2022. Haddish, who recently appeared in “The Haunted Mansion,” was arrested Jan. 14, 2022 after driving into the yard of a residence in Peachtree City, Ga., according to a statement from the local police department. Officers had received a report around 2:30 a.m. of a driver asleep at the wheel on Highway 74.
At the Laugh Factory’s annual Thanksgiving meal donation to the community on Thursday, Haddish was performing onstage and helping serve participants, with local TV news capturing the festive event. The comedy club has hosted free Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for anyone in need for 40 years.
Haddish also had a recurring role in “The Afterparty” and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” after gaining attention on “The Carmichael Show” and in the comedy hit “Girl’s Trip.”
Later in 2022, Haddish was named in a lawsuit by a Jane Doe who alleged child abuse while she and her brother were filming a comedy skit with Haddish when they were minors. The suit was dismissed with prejudice on the plaintiff’s request, meaning that the lawsuit cannot be filed again.
Variety has reached out to Haddish’s reps for comment.
