LAUNCH

Canal+ is launching in the Netherlands, offering a mix of live TV and streaming on one platform.

Its offering will include ESPN, originals such as “The Brigade,” access to titles from Viaplay, Lionsgate and Fremantle and over 10,000 international films and series from SPI International among other fare.

Customers of Dutch telecom operator Vodafone Ziggo will also have access to Canal+ after the two companies struck a deal.

It will be distributed via subsidiary M7, which will be rebranded as Canal+ from Jan. 29.

“I am very pleased with the launch of our platform in the Netherlands, which will help us further strengthen the position of Canal+ in the European market” said Canal+ International CEO Jacques du Puy. “It is a dynamic market that offers us new opportunities.

Canal+ Group, which owns Studiocanal and SPI International, operates in more than 50 countries, including recently launching in Austria and Slovakia, and boasts more than 25 million subscribers across Europe, Africa and Asia.
