Reina Hardesty Cast in Daniel Dae Kim Spy Series ‘Butterfly’ at Amazon Prime Video

Reina Hardesty has been cast in “Butterfly,” the upcoming Amazon Prime Video spy thriller series starring Daniel Dae Kim.

She will play Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill David Jung (Kim) an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former U.S. intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him.

Per the official character description, Rebecca is a “charismatic, unpredictable assassin. Orphaned (or so she thought) at the age of 13, she learned to cope with her pain and loneliness by distancing herself from difficult emotions, applying a mental tourniquet to the part of her that held love and empathy. Over time, she’s developed a hard shell, which is useful in her line of work. But Rebecca isn’t a grizzled, stoic hitman. She’s shiny and charming and fun to watch, leaping to life with every hit of adrenaline.”

Hardesty will soon be seen in the film “It’s What’s Inside,” with previous credits including the film “The Secret Art of Human Flight,” the IFC series “Brockmire,” the CW’s “The Flash,” DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” and Crackle’s “Startup.”

“Butterfly” is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel series created by Arash Amel. Amel wrote the books with Marguerite Bennett, while Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone illustrated.

Kim’s company 3AD developed “Butterfly” via their first look deal with Amazon MGM Studios, while Ken Woodruff, Steph Cha serve as co-creators and showrunners. Executive producers include Woodruff, Cha, Kim alongside 3AD’s John Cheng, Amel on behalf of the Amel Company, and Boom! Studios’ Stephen Christy and Ross Richie. Adam Yoelin co-executive produces for Boom! Studios.
