Molly Parker Set to Star in Fox’s Adaptation of Italian Medical Drama ‘Doc’

Molly Parker (“Deadwood,” “House of Cards”) is set to star in “Doc,” Fox’s upcoming medical procedural based on the hit Italian series “Doc — Nelle tue mani.” Parker will play Dr. Amy Elias, the chief of internal and family medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis, who must pick up her professional and personal pieces after she loses the memory of the last eight years.

Per the logline: “After a brain injury erases the last eight years of her life, Amy must navigate an unfamiliar world where she has no recollection of patients she’s treated, colleagues she’s crossed, the soulmate she divorced, the man she now loves and the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away. She can rely only on her estranged 17-year-old daughter, whom she remembers as a 9-year-old, and a handful of devoted friends, as she struggles to continue practicing medicine, despite having lost nearly a decade of knowledge and experience.”

Barbie Kligman (“Magnum P.I.,” “Private Practice”), Hank Steinberg (“For Life,” “Without a Trace”) and Erwin Stoff (“I Am Legend,” “The Matrix”) are exec producers. Sony Pictures TV and Fox Entertainment Studios are behind the show, which comes from a format created and is produced by Fremantle’s Lux Vide. The show debuted in Italy on Rai 1 in 2020, becoming the most-viewed scripted series on Italian TV since 2007. The show has now been sold in more than 100 countries.

Fox originally gave “Doc” a direct-to-series order in April, eyeing a 2023-2024 premiere. But with the Hollywood strikes, that time frame has been pushed to next season.

Parker landed an Emmy nom for playing House Whip Jackie Sharp on “House of Cards.” Her other recent credits include “Lost in Space” and “Goliath” on TV, as well as the films “Pieces of a Woman,” “Peter Pan & Wendy” and “American Pastoral.” She also revived her role as Alma Garret in “Deadwood: The Movie.” She also receieved an Independent Spirit Award nom for “Center of the World.”

Next up, Parker is set to star with Halle Berry in Netflix’s “The Mothership” and in the indie “You Gotta Believe” with Greg Kinnear, Sarah Gadon and Luke Wilson. Parker is repped by Gersh and Circle of Confusion.
