Netflix Top 10: Ricky Gervais’ ‘Armageddon’ Debuts at No. 1 On English TV Chart, Dave Chappelle’s ‘Dreamer’ Lands at No. 5

Stand-up comedy specials dominated the Netflix Top 10 English TV chart during the holiday viewing window (Dec. 25-31) as Ricky Gervais’ “Armaggedon” opened atop the list of titles following its Dec. 25 debut with 8 million total views. Therefore, pushing “My Life With the Walter Boys” down to No. 2 after the show’s two-week run at No. 1.

Meanwhile, Dave Chappelle’s “Dreamer” quickly began trending online following its Dec. 31 debut as the comedian continued to crack jokes regarding his stance on the trans community. The special debuted at No. 5 on the chart 2.2 million views counted during this viewing window. Since only the first day of viewing managed to make the chart, it’s likely the special will see a jump by the next viewing window, which will have counted its first full week of availability.

Trevor Noah’s “Where Was I?” also made the chart for the second week. After previously opening at No. 3 on last week’s Netflix Top 10, the hour-long standup moved to No. 8 with 1.7 million views counted in its first full week of streaming.

As for the rest of Netflix’s original scripted titles, “The Crown” landed at No. 3 on this week’s chart with 3.6 million views following the release of its final episodes which arrived on Dec. 14. “Obliterated” spent its fifth week among the Top 10 chart at No. 4 with 2.6 million views.

Season 1 of “Young Sheldon” earned another 1.5 million views this week, putting it at No. 9 on the chart just above PinkFong’s “Bebefinn Playtime” which recorded 1.5 million total views in its first week among the Top 10.

Elsewhere on the chart is “Fireplace 4K: Crackling Birchwood from Fireplace for Your Home” (1.9 million) and “World War II: From the Frontlines” (1.8 million).

On the film side, families spent the holiday season watching Julia Roberts on screen in Sam Esmail’s apocalyptic thriller “Leave the World Behind,” which came in at No. 2 (14.6 million views), and Garry Marshall’s classic “Pretty Woman.” The romantic comedy hit the No. 3 spot on the film chart (8.4 million views). Family films also showed a big presence on the chart as “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” came in at No. 4 (8.2 million views), “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” took the No. 5 spot (7.4 million views), and Adam Sandler’s “Le”o spent its sixth week on the list at No. 6 (6.7 million views). Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” was the most-viewed title this week with 34 million views.
