Harrison Ford to Receive Career Achievement Award at Critics Choice Awards

Harrison Ford is set to receive the Career Achievement Award at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Considered one of the greatest movie stars of his generation, Ford has had roles in many of the biggest blockbusters in history, making an indelible impact. Among them are huge franchises with iconic characters such as Han Solo in “Star Wars” and the titular archaeologist in “Indiana Jones.” In addition, he’s had memorable roles in cinematic classics like “Blade Runner,” “The Fugitive” and “Air Force One.” His undeniable impact has been recognized by various awards bodies which have included three Golden Globe nominations and his sole Oscar nom for best actor for his stunning performance in Peter Weir’s best picture-nominated drama “Witness” (1985).

Ford, 81, has been honored for his contributions to the film industry, including the BAFTA’s Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award and the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. At last year’s Cannes Film Festival, where “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” premiered, he was bestowed with the honorary Palme d’Or.

Ford is currently starring as a therapist with an unorthodox practice in the Apple TV+ comedy series “Shrinking,” for which he’s nominated for supporting comedy actor at this year’s CCA ceremony. He also stars opposite Helen Mirren in the Western period drama series “1923” from Paramount+, and will play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ superhero film “Captain America: Brave New World” with Anthony Mackie.

As previously announced, Greta Gerwig‘s “Barbie” leads this year’s film contenders, with a record-breaking 18 nominations. Apple’s “The Morning Show” leads the television contenders with six.

The 29th annual Critics Choice Awards will air live on The CW at 7 p.m. ET (delayed PT, check local listings).
