Young the Giant Frontman Sameer Gadhia Launches SiriusXM Podcast ‘Point of Origin,’ Amplifying Diverse Voices in Alternative Rock (EXCLUSIVE)

Young the Giant frontman Sameer Gadhia has teamed with SiriusXM to launch the new podcast “Point of Origin,” which is “dedicated to amplifying voices of color from around the world while challenging the homogenous narrative in alternative and indie rock music.”

Brittany Howard, former singer of Alabama Shakes, will appear as the podcast’s first guest to discuss her latest solo studio effort, “What Now.”

Each episode of “Point of Origin,” which is available on the SiriusXM app, will explore the lives and careers of musicians of color and include a fully curated “life playlist” full of the guest’s favorite songs.

The podcast stems from Gadhia’s radio show of the same name, which aired on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation. Previous episodes of the radio show featured artists including Beabadoobee, Dijon, Rostam, KennyHoopla and Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Gadhia said in a statement, “In 2020, I started Point of Origin with the hope to challenge the homogenous narrative of alternative music by amplifying voices of color in the past, present, and future of the genre. I really enjoy talking to all of these artists at length, and I’m so excited to finally expand this SiriusXM Alt Nation radio segment as a podcast, to share the full conversation with each of you. By partnering with SiriusXM, we will be diving even deeper into the lives of these musicians with a fully curated ‘life playlist,’ with music that has impacted their lives from childhood to now. I hope everyone leaves these episodes feeling inspired, surprised, and heartened by the points of our lives that connect us all.”

With Young the Giant, Gadhia has written and performed modern alternative standards including “My Body” and “Cough Syrup.” A first-generation Indian American and honoree of Variety‘s 2022 Inclusion Impact Report, Gadhia has been vocal about his experience navigating the world of alternative music and its homogenous history.
