“The Brutalist,” a three-plus-hour epic directed by Brady Corbet and starring Adrien Brody, was filmed in VistaVision, a high-resolution format with a wider field of view, allowing for enhanced clarity when projected in 70mm. Attendees of the 70mm engagements will receive a collectible brochure and postcard set showcasing the work of László Toth, the fictional architect played by Brody, who is at the center of the film. All tickets also come with a commemorative poster.
“The Brutalist,” Corbet’s third film after “The Childhood of a Leader” and “Vox Lux,” is being hailed as a major Oscar contender. In his review for Variety, chief film critic Owen Gleiberman praised the film, writing that “it’s paced with a pleasing stateliness and overflows with incident and emotion.”
The film, which carries an impressively small $10 million price tag, follows a visionary architect and Holocaust survivor who attempts to rebuild his life in post-war America. Initially forced to toil in poverty, László soon wins a contract that changes the course of his life. “The Brutalist” made its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 1. Its limited release in the U.S. is on Dec. 20, ahead of a wide release in January.
