Variety’s Directors on Directors returns with pairings of the directors behind this year’s awards contenders speaking in conversation with each other.

Featured in this year’s “Directors on Directors” lineup are:

  • Shawn Levy, “Deadpool & Wolverine” & Jon M. Chu, “Wicked”

  • Pedro Almodóvar, “The Room Next Door” & Halina Reijn “Babygirl”

This year’s season is presented by Amazon MGM Studios. The annual Variety Directors on Directors issue will hit newsstands on Dec. 18. Conversations will begin releasing on Monday, Dec. 16 across Variety.com and its social media channels. One conversation will air per day on Variety.com for five consecutive days.

Last year’s Variety’s Directors on Directors lineup included conversations with filmmakers such as Ben Affleck, Michael B. Jordan, Spike Lee, Bradley Cooper, Greta Gerwig, James Cameron, Ari Aster, Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay and Michael Mann.

“Directors on Directors” comes on the heels of Variety’s ongoing “Actors on Actors” series, which this year features Ariana Grande, Paul Mescal, Cynthia Erivo, Mikey Madison, Ryan Reynolds, Andrew Garfield and more.
