Kieran Culkin has officially revived his hilarious fake feud with Pedro Pascal. The two actors went viral during last year’s awards season by throwing playful jabs at each other during various ceremonies, and now Culkin is doing it again at the 2025 Golden Globes. The “Succession” Emmy winner appeared on Variety and Entertainment Tonight’s Golden Globes red carpet pre-show when the topic of Pascal was brought up.
“Is he here tonight? Oh he’s not? Sorry, Pedro, were you not nominated this year?” Culkin asked with a laugh. “Next year. Maybe next year. When I won’t be.”
Culkin attended the 2025 Golden Globes as a nominee in the best supporting actor category for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain,” for which he’s already won prizes this season from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
“He’s a lovely man,” Culkin said on the red carpet about Pascal as well as his “Actors on Actors” partner Colman Domingo. “I want to work with both of those guys. They are just freaking fantastic.”
Culkin started his fake feud with Pascal at last year’s Golden Globes when he won the prize for best actor in a TV drama for his performance on the final season of HBO’s “Succession.” During his acceptance speech, Culkin told the audience: “I was nominated for a Golden Globe like 20 years ago, and when that moment passed, I still remember thinking, I’m never going to be back in this room again.”
“But thanks to ‘Succession,’ I’ve been in here a couple times,” he continued before cracking up the crowd by saying: “Suck it, Pedro!”
The Globes broadcast then cut to a humorously puzzled Pascal in the audience. Pascal was a fellow nominee for his role in HBO’s “The Last of Us.” A few weeks later, Pascal attended the strike-delayed Emmy Awards and was wearing a sling because of a shoulder injury. He told the press it was because “Kieran Culkin beat the shit out of me.”
Culkin’s nomination at the 2025 Golden Globes is one of four nominations for “A Real Pain,” which is also nominated for best motion picture comedy or musical.
