Joe Biden Sets Final Presidential Interview With MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell

For the final interview of his presidency, Joe Biden will sit down with MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell in the Oval Office. The discussion will air on Jan. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on MSNBC.

According to the official release, “Biden will discuss his legacy as he prepares to leave the White House following the inauguration of President-elect Trump, his five decades of public service, and economic and legislative accomplishments that will endure after his presidency.”

Another possible topic of conversation could be Biden’s pardoning of his son Hunter Biden in December. Although previously stating he would not grant him a pardon, the 46th president cleared his son of all legal repercussions following gun-related felony charges in Delaware and tax evasion troubles in California.

“I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further,” Biden said at the time. “I hope Americans will understand why a father and a president would come to this decision.”

Political tensions have remained high as President-elect Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration looms in the near future. In November, Biden promised a “peaceful and orderly” transfer of power over to Trump, reassuring his supporters that “we’re going to be OK.”

“We accept the choice the country made,” Biden said. “You can’t love your country only when you win. You can’t love your neighbor only when you agree.”

Biden has appeared on O’Donnell’s show, “The Last Word,” several times since serving as Vice President to Barack Obama. Notably, in 2021, Biden appeared on the show during the first 100 days of his administration, discussing the Covid pandemic and the still-fresh Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
