EO Media-Sold ‘Sumergidos’ Makes Pan-Latin America Pay TV Debut on A&E Jan. 27

Eze Olzanski’s Buenos Aires-based EO Media has confirmed the Jan. 27 A&E Latin America debut for Argentine-Brazil series “Sumergidos” as it descends on Content Americas.

This follows a raft of various new movie deals that the production and distribution company sealed at Mip Cancun with the likes of Paramount, NBC Universal, Globo and MVS. It also closed free TV pacts in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Mexico, Brazil and Uruguay as well as inflight deals for several movies in its slate at the Mexico event.

“Sumergidos”is one of the latest additions to A&E’s catalog of crime drama series alongside titles led by “Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico,” “El Chapo,” “Rosario Tijeras,” “El Patrón del Mal” and “Sobreviviendo a Escobar: Alias JJ.”

“When we sold ‘Narcos,’ ‘Narcos: Mexico’ and ‘El Chapo’ to A&E, not many believed that they could play on both a pay TV network and Netflix simultaneously. We proved them wrong as they were very successful,” Olzanski told Variety.

This is the first pan-Latin American pay TV premiere for the thriller. “Sumergidos” had its local debut on Paramount Channel in Brazil and on Argentina’s TV Publica in 2022.

Helmed by Argentine directors Claudio Rosa and Pablo Brasa along with Brazilian filmmaker Marcia Paraíso, the 13-episode crime thriller is set against the backdrops of Florianópolis and Córdoba. The story explores the intersection of surfing, drug trafficking, and politics. The scripts were written by Claudio Rosa, Glauco Broering and Pablo Brusa.

Co-produced by Jaque Content, Prisma Films and Bonaparte from Córdoba, Story Lab from Buenos Aires and Plural Filmes from Brazil, the series features over 60 actors and actresses from both countries led by Argentina’s Mariano Bertolini, Liz Solari, Jorge Marrale, Juan Gil Navarro and Brazilian actors Cassio Nascimento, Zé Carlos Machado, Ana Cecilia Costa, Guilherme Weber, among others.

The production also showcases emerging talents, including young Lucas Heymanns, who delivers a standout performance as Gordo, a drug trafficker and one of the series’ breakout revelations. Professional surfer José Francisco Filho, famously known as Fininho, participated as a stunt double for the main character.

EO Media arrives at Content Americas 2025 with a robust catalogue of over 250 films and series, including such titles as “Arthur’s Whisky” (starring Diane Keaton) “A Little White Lie” (Michael Shannon and Kate Hudson) “Sunrise” (Guy Pearce) and “Clear Cut” (Alec Baldwin) along with a library that includes action classics, natural disaster pics, family/kids movies, and more.

Company has also co-produced such titles as Star+ Original “Ringo: Glory & Death” and the recent WBD / TNT & Flow’s Original “Cris Miró (Ella)” and is working on several new projects in Latin America, France, U.K. and the U.S., including the upcoming series announced at the most recent LA Screenings, “Punta Blanca,” a co-development with Uruguay’s El Camino Films, starring Natalia Oreiro.
