South Korean Stars Moon Choi and Sukku Son to Star in Indie Film ‘Bedford Park’

Actors Moon Choi and Sukku Son are set to star in the indie feature “Bedford Park,” which will mark the directorial debut of writer and editor Stephanie Ahn.

The film revolves around an accident that “brings together the lives of a Korean American woman, struggling between her loyalty to her family and the pull towards her passions, and a forsaken ex-wrestler, trying to right the wrongs of his fractured past.”

The project hails from producers Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff for Krasnoff/Foster Productions, Chris S. Lee of B&C Content banner and Nina Yang Bongiovi, who is the producing partner of Forest Whitaker through the Significant Productions banner. “Bedford Park” is expected to begin production in the spring in New Jersey, with hopes of making the festival rounds next year.

Lee’s B&C Content is a production and management firm based in Seoul and Los Angeles with the goal of bringing Korean content and IP to Hollywood. The company reps Choi and Son.

“Bedford Park” is “a conversation about identity, resilience, and the sacrifices we make for love,” Lee said. “Stephanie Ahn’s vision, coupled with the immense talent of Moon Choi and Sukku Son, brings this narrative to life with honesty and emotional depth.”

Moon Choi, also known as Hee-seo Choi, is known for her work in director Bong Joon-ho’s 2017 action-fantasy “Okja,” as well as TV series and stage work in South Korea. She earned critical plaudits for her role as an activist in the 2017’s historical drama “Anarchist From Colony” and in 2018’s “Our Body.”

Son was seen in the Wachowski’s Netflix fantasy drama “Sense8” and the Netflix drama “A Killer Paradox.” He starred opposite Don Lee in the 2022 Korean action film “The Roundup,” which helped revive the Korean box office by grossing more than $100 million, and in the Netflix drama “D.P.” which was a hit for the streamer in South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. Ahn got her start working for filmmakers including Griffin Dunne and Jonathan Demme and advanced to editor on such films as “The Forgiveness of the Blood” and “My Old Lady.” Her screenplays have been chosen for IFP’s Independent Project Forum and as finalists for Rooftop’s Filmmaker Fund, ScreenCraft’s Film Fund, as well as the Austin Film Festival, Final Draft’s Big Break and Cinequest’s Screenwriting Contests.

Foster, whose credits range from “Sleepless in Seattle” to the NBC/Yahoo comedy series “Community,” said producers did “an exhaustive search” for the film’s lead roles. “When we met Moon Choi, Stephanie Ahn and I looked at each other knowing we had found our Audrey,” Foster said. “We had been watching Sukku Son for a while and when he raised his hand to join, we hit the jackpot.” Choi and Son are repped by B&C Content and Stannum.
