The Philadelphia Eagles are flying to the Super Bowl after a 55-23 win at home against the Washington Commanders on Sunday in the NFC Championship game.
The victory caps a strong season for the Eagles with quarterback Jalen Hurts and the addition of running back Saquon Barkley, who was signed as a free agent to three-year deal with the team last March. By the middle of the fourth quarter, the Eagles were comfortably ahead of the Commanders to secure their Super Bowl berth.
The Eagles will face off at the Super Bowl against either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills, depending on the outcome of today’s AFC championship game, which is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
With three minutes to go in the quarter, as the score reached 55-23, Eagles’ players and coaches started celebrating, high-fiving and dumping big tubs of Gatorade on one another on the sidelines. The double-nickels score racked up by the Eagles marks the highest score ever recorded for an AFC or NFC championship game, per Fox Sports.
