Post Malone, Shane Gillis Tease Super Bowl Commercial for Bud Light

Bud Light isn’t waiting for the Super Bowl to start talking about its Super Bowl commercial.

Rapper and performer Post Malone and comedian Shane Gillis will be spotted in a “teaser” for Bud Light’s coming Big Game promotion Sunday during coverage of the AFC and NFC Championships on Fox and CBS. In the preview, the pair sit on lawn chairs in what looks like the driveway of a suburban home, and discuss the fact that standards prohibit the depiction of alcohol consumption in a TV commercial, which prompts them to start counting down the seconds until the ad will be over.

Anheuser-Busch InBev announced earlier this week that Malone and Gillis will appear in a commercial for what is arguably one of the brewing giant’s signature products in Super Bowl LIX. It will be Malone’s fourth Super Bowl campaign with Bud Light. Gillis is making his Bud Light Super Bowl debut.

In 2024, Bud Light used the Super Bowl to introduce the Bud Light Genie, an affable creature who granted a group of friends many wishes during an epic night out. By the time the commercial ended, the pals met up with Peyton Manning, Post Malone and UFC CEO Dana White.

The appearance of Malone and Gillis suggests Bud Light is sticking to recent humorous themes that have made it one of the most durable sponsors of the Super Bowl. In 2023, Bud Light tried to expand its customer base with a commercial that showed Miles and Keleigh Teller dancing while listening to hold music from one of their smartphones. The reliance on a female character was novel for a Bud Light ad, as was the more sophisticated premise. The brand is often known for using frat-boy characters and party antics in its promotions.
