Filmmakers behind the year’s biggest movies are teaming up in conversation for Variety Directors on Directors presented by Amazon MGM Studios, premiering this week on Variety’s site and social platforms.
Ben Affleck and Michael B. Jordan will kick off the series on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. PT as they discuss pulling double duty in “Air” and “Creed III” as both directors and actors.
“Maestro” director Bradley Cooper teamed up with the legendary Spike Lee for a conversation premiering Dec. 14, while blockbuster filmmaker James Cameron sat down with “Barbie” visionary Greta Gerwig in an interview landing on Dec. 15.
The following week, Ari Aster and Yorgos Lanthimos’ rousing conversation about “Beau Is Afraid” and “Poor Things” debuts on Dec. 18. Ava DuVernay’s sit-down with Michael Mann discussing “Origin” and “Ferrari” premieres on Dec. 19.
Directors on Directors comes on the heels of Variety’s Actors on Actors series, which this year features Margot Robbie, Cillian Murphy, Halle Bailey, Rachel Zegler, Emma Stone and more.
“Variety has once again established itself as the go-to destination for awards coverage with our biggest ever Actors on Actors this year. The lineup for our spinoff franchise Directors on Directors is just as impressive,” says Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh. “We invite our readers and viewers around the world to engage in these illuminating conversations between the most exciting filmmakers in the industry.”
Variety’s Directors on Directors has previously included conversations with filmmakers such as Ryan Coogler, Francis Ford Coppola, Taylor Swift and Olivia Wilde.
All the interviews will run in the Dec. 14 print issue of Variety.
