Keshet International Boards Orlando Bloom Environmental Documentary ‘Earthbound’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Orlando Bloom documentary “Earthbound” has been picked up by Keshet International for global distribution.

“Earthbound,” which Bloom narrates and executive produces, is a six-part docu-series that explores apparently ordinary people tackling potentially life-changing environmental challenges.

Farhoud Meybodi (“My Last Days”) wrote, directed and produced the series. Keshet International will screen the doc to buyers at Berlinale Series Market Selects Screenings next week and at London TV Screenings later this month.

Each episode profiles a single environmental visionary, such as 32-year-old engineer, Nzambi Matee, who founded Gjenge Makers, a company that recycles plastic waste into paving bricks.

“This optimistic and solution-orientated series aims to both entertain and inspire viewers around the world to create impact within their community,” reads the logline.

Matee was also the subject of Meybodi’s award-winning feature doc “Earthbound: Nzambi Matee,” which inspired the series. The film also raised awareness and funds for both Gjenge Makers and The Earthbound Foundation, which provides educational scholarships, business grants and building grants.

“The success of Nzambi’s film is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team, which spans Kenya, South Africa, the U.S. and the U.K,” said Meybodi. “It underscores the reality that, despite our diverse backgrounds, we are all bound together by a shared humanity that can be harnessed to create art and build bridges, especially in these divisive times. I’m optimistic that the documentary series will continue to build on the film’s momentum, reminding global audiences of the immense importance Mother Nature holds in all our lives.”

“Earthbound” was produced by impact studio Meybodi’s Ritual Arts and Bloom’s production company Amazing Owl. Massa Nagano and Adam Karasick exec produced alongside Bloom and Meybodi.

Kelly Wright, Keshet International’s MD of Distribution said: “’Earthbound’ is one of the most uplifting hours of television I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t keep the smile off my face watching Farhoud capture Nzambi’s story and spirit, and knew KI had to be a part of this incredible project. We’re so excited to take this award-winning film out to the TV world as a docuseries at the upcoming London TV Screenings.”

KI’s SVP of acquisitions Anke Stoll negotiated the deal alongside consultant Hayley Babcock.
