Mindy Kaling Netflix Pro Basketball Series Adds Max Greenfield, Uche Agada, Dane DiLiegro

Mindy Kaling‘s upcoming Netflix comedy series centered on pro-basketball has added Max Greenfield, Uche Agada and Dane DiLiegro to the cast.

Kaling’s latest project, still untitled, features Kate Hudson in the lead role. Additional previously announced cast members include Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Roberto Sanchez.

The series’ official logline reads, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

Greenfield (“The Neighborhood,” “New Girl”) will play Lan Levy, whose official character description says he is “a good-natured pediatrician and Isla’s encouraging fiancé.” Agada (“Rise”) portrays Dyson Gibbs, “an eager and naive rookie who just wants to prove himself”; Isla elevated him from the D-league. Finally, DiLiegro (“Prey,” “American Horror Stories”) plays Eastern European Waves player Badrag Knauss. His character description reads, “Although massive in stature, and at times quite blunt, Badrag often surprises the team with his thoughtfulness.”

James Ponsoldt directed the first two episodes of the series and David Stassen is the showrunner. Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen are the writers and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Hudson, Howard Klein of 3 Arts Entertainment, Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis. Jordan Rambis is a producer. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
