‘Missing You’ Writer Victoria Asare-Archer Penning Limited Series Adaptation of C.M. Ewan’s ‘The House Hunt’ for Eleventh Hour Films (EXCLUSIVE)

Victoria Asare-Archer has been tapped to adapt C.M. Ewan’s “The House Hunt” for Sony Pictures Television-backed Eleventh Hour Films.

Asare-Archer is the lead writer and executive producer on Netflix’s Harlan Coben adaptation “Missing You,” which is currently in production.

“The House Hunt” follows the story of Lucy and Sam, a young couple who reluctantly put their newly renovated house on the market to try and clear their debts. Under pressure to sell, Lucy finds herself agreeing to take a viewing from a prospective “dream buyer” alone while Sam is at work – and events soon take an unsettling turn.

“As Lucy she begins the viewing something about the man feels wrong and as time passes with no sign of the estate agent Lucy’s unease grows,” reads the synopsis. “On the verge of panic Lucy asks the man to leave, but he refuses and turns on her, revealing something inconceivable — and as events spiral beyond Lucy’s control she fears for her own safety, as well as Sam’s, who is due home from work any moment.”

Eleventh Hour optioned the novel last year.

Asare-Archer has been named one of the Radio Times’ top 100 voices in TV. She has previously written two episodes of Netflix’s “Stay Close,” from Red Production Company, as well as the Emmy-nominated virtual reality game “Doctor Who: The Runaway.”

“All my years of Rightmove stalking have finally paid off!” Asare-Archer said. “It’s a dream to be able to combine my love of property porn and tense domestic thrillers in one gripping series. Chris has written the most engrossing book about one young couple’s property nightmare. It’s an honour to have been asked to turn a bestselling book into a must-watch TV series.”

Paula Cuddy, Eleventh Hour’s creative director, added: “Victoria is the dream writer to adapt and deliver for screen the story of Lucy and Sam whose world is turned upside down when they put their house up for sale. Brilliant characters, jaw-dropping twists, turns and reveals. It’ll be a rollercoaster ride for the audience — we’re so excited to be on board with Victoria at the wheel.”

Cuddy, Eve Gutierrez and Jill Green from Eleventh Hour Films are executive producing the adaptation alongside Asare-Archer and Ewan.
