Kate Gill Joins Sony Pictures Television as Comedy Development Senior VP

Kate Gill is heading to Sony Pictures Television, joining the studio as senior VP of comedy development, working new comedy series for all platforms for the U.S. scripted division. Gill will report to comedy development exec VP Colin Davis and be based in Culver City.

“Kate has established a well-deserved reputation as a true tastemaker and a talent-friendly executive. Her strong relationships, varied experiences, and passionate outlook will be an essential asset to the team as we dive into this new era of comedy television,” said Davis in a statement.

Gill moves over from Paramount Television Studios, where she was senior VP of development and oversaw the Paramount+ musical series “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.” While there, she also worked on the Max series “Station Eleven” and “Made For Love.” Before that, she was at YouTube Originals, working on series including “Weird City” and “On Becoming A God In Central Florida” (which is from Sony). Her resume also includes working for late TV producer and exec Jamie Tarses at FanFare (which was based at Sony) and heading up TV development at JASH.

“I’m so happy to return to the Sony Pictures Television family,” Gill said. “They have such a strong legacy in comedy and have fostered relationships with so many talented and funny people. I can’t wait to jump in with Colin and the team.”
