Over the span of four decades, Delpy has earned recognition as both a celebrated actor and a talented director and writer. She gained early widespread acclaim with her performances in films such as “Three Colors: White” and “Before Sunrise,” in which she portrayed Céline, a role that solidified her as a leading figure in world cinema. Her collaboration with Ethan Hawke on the 1995 modern classic later spawned two sequels, “Before Sunset” (2004) and “Before Midnight” (2013), which are both held in equally high regard.

As a director, she has continually pushed boundaries, helming films such as “2 Days in Paris” (2007), a witty and insightful exploration of relationships, and “Lolo” (2015), a comedic yet poignant story about love and identity.

“Julie Delpy is a unique voice in the world of film,” said Göteborg Artistic Director Pia Lundberg of this year’s honoree. “Her work blends humor, depth and sensitivity in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide. She is a trailblazer and an inspiration, and we are truly proud to honor her with this year’s Honorary Dragon Award.”

The 2025 Göteborg Film Festival will take place from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3, with Delpy accepting her Honorary Dragon Award on Jan. 29 during the “Meet the Barbarians” screening at the city’s Biograf Draken.
