‘Mo’ Reveals Hannibal Buress, Matt Rife and More as Guest Stars Along With Season 2 Trailer

“Mo” has revealed a new set of guest stars along with its Season 2 trailer.

Comedians Hannibal Burress, Matt Rife, Liza Koshy and Ralph Barbosa plus rapper Slim Thug are all a part of the Season 2 guest cast, joining previously announced guest stars Simon Rex and Johanna Braddy.

The trailer opens with Mo (series co-creator Mo Amer) complaining to Barbosa, seemingly a street food vendor, about having been stuck in Mexico for six months — following up on the Season 1 finale, in which Mo is mistakenly transported there from Houston with no passport due to his status as an undocumented Palestinian refugee. “Mo, why you wanna go back to America so bad?” Barbosa says. “You’ve been bouncing around that embassy for months, bro.”

Rife is seen playing an official that Mo argues with at the embassy. “Maybe just come to terms with the fact: You’re Mexican now. Feliz cumpleaños,” Rife says snidely, using the Spanish phrase for “happy birthday.” (Koshy is seen only for a moment in the trailer. Burress appears only in a newly released image from the season that depicts him wearing a white lab coat in a drugstore. Slim Thug also appears in a new image, standing outdoors with a distraught Mo.)

Later in the trailer, Mo crosses a deep river by foot with several other people in distress before a judge is heard telling him, “You illegally crossed the border into the United State. A judgment for deportation is hereby ordered.” He gets fitted with an ankle monitor, but apparently continues fighting his asylum case, as the trailer also shows him asking his lawyer (Lee Eddy) if it will be possible for him to travel with his mother (Farah Bsieso) and brother (Omar Elba) to Palestine.

Meanwhile, Mo discovers upon his return to the U.S. that his girlfriend Maria (Teresa Ruiz) is dating a new man (Rex), who he has a public argument with. “You’re a damn fraud!” he yells.

“Mo” is executive produced by Amer, co-creator Ramy Youssef, Harris Danow, director Solvan “Slick” Naim, Jacqui Rivera and Azhar Usman. A24 is the studio. Season 2 debuts on Jan. 30.
