‘Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir’ Bought by Spanish Broadcaster Atresmedia (EXCLUSIVE)

Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,” the hit Paris-set superhero adventure show, has been acquired by Spanish broadcaster Atresmedia in a deal comprising all five seasons of the blockbuster series.

The show, which airs in over 150 countries, will headline Atresmedia’s newly expanded “Neox Kidz” children’s programming block, starting on Jan. 7. The deal was brokered by Mediawan Kids & Family.

The Neox Kids programming will be available with extended hours from 6am-10am on weekdays, and 6am to 2pm on weekends and boast exclusive premium kids’ content. “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” is the first new series acquired for Neox Kids’ updated block.

The executive said the “show has become a cherished favorite among families around the globe with its universal themes of bravery, teamwork and resilience.” It will now take center stage on Atresmedia’s children’s programming, “paving the way for an exciting new chapter for the brand.”

Set against the backdrop of Paris’s iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral, “Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” revolves around two teenagers, Marinette and Adrien, who lead double lives as secret superheroes and Paris’s protectors. With the help of Miraculous magical jewels that grant extraordinary powers, Marinette becomes Ladybug, wielding the power of creation, while Adrien transforms into Cat Noir, with the power of destruction. Together, they face the mysterious villain Hawk Moth who uses dark creatures known as akumas to spread chaos.

The anticipated sixth season of “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” will world premiere in the U.S. on Jan. 25, on Disney Channel and Disney XD, while the international rollouts will begin during the first quarter of 2025.

Season six will be the first series produced using Unreal Engine, a real-time 3D creation tool that brings immersive and photorealistic storytelling to life. It also introduces updated character designs.

Created by Thomas Astruc, Nathanaël Bronn and Jeremy Zag, the franchise hails from Miraculous Corp, a joint venture between Pierre-Antoine Capton’s Mediawan (“The Count of Monte Cristo”) and ZAG, the independent animation studio led by Jeremy Zag.
