Kate Middleton Reveals Her Cancer Is Now in Remission: ‘There Is Much to Look Forward to’

Kate Middleton is officially in remission after revealing in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

The Princess of Wales shared the news in a post on X Tuesday after visiting current cancer patients at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, where she said she was treated “during the past year.”

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more,” Middleton wrote. “The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

Middleton made the visit as part of her new role as joint patron of the hospital. “My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” Middleton said of her duty.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she added. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

In September, Middleton shared that she had finished treatment for her cancer, which has remained unspecified. She was admitted to the hospital in January 2024 for “abdominal surgery,” which is when the cancer was found.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” Middleton wrote after finishing treatment. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”
