‘American Beauty’ and ‘Pushing Daisies’ Producer Dan Jinks Joins Indie Streamer Nebula’s Dark Anthology Series ‘Sub/liminal’

Indie streaming service Nebula has set its first-ever scripted original series, “Sub/liminal,” with Oscar-winning producer Dan Jinks (“American Beauty,” “Big Fish,” “Pushing Daisies”) on board to executive produce.

Per Nebula, “The new dark anthology series from the indie streamer will be in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. The show will explore power dynamics in human relationships, and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance.”

The six-episode first season of “Sub/liminal” will feature stories from Nebula creators made in partnership with seasoned directors and producers. Nebula CEO Dave Wiskus will executive produce alongside Jinks.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Dave Wiskus and the amazing writers and directors he has assembled at Nebula for this exciting new series,” Jinks said.

Wiskus added: “Dan Jinks has an Oscar, I’m doing whatever he says.”

The series order for “Sub/liminal” comes on the heels of last year’s launch of Nebula’s studio arm, Nebula Motion Pictures. The goal with the scripted division is to create “a studio pipeline for digital creators to bring their stories for film and television to life with prestige — building a bridge for creators from YouTube to premium streaming.”

Academy Award-and-Emmy-winning producer Jinks is best known for his work on “American Beauty,” starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening, and “Pushing Daises.”

On the film side, Jinks has also produced “Milk,” “Big Fish” (he also produced the musical adaptation of the Tim Burton on Broadway), “Nothing to Lose,” “Down With Love,” “The Forgotten,” “The Nines” and executive produced “The Bone Collector.” Jinks’ TV credits include “Traveler,” “Side Order of Life” and “Emily Owens, M.D.”
