The CW’s ‘Batwoman’ Pilot Switches Directors, Adds Dougray Scott

The CW has added veteran Scottish actor Dougray Scott to its “Batwoman” pilot as well as swapped in Marcos Siega for previous director David Nutter, Variety has learned.

The pilot, which stars Ruby Rose as the eponymous caped heroine, is being helmed by DC TV head Greg Berlanti, and was penned by “Vampire Diaries” alum Caroline Dries. Nutter has had to step aside for personal reasons, but will remain as an EP on the pilot. The character made her debut in a December DC crossover episode which melded heroes from three CW shows: “Supergirl,” “Flash” and “Arrow.”

Scott is boarding in the role of Jacob Kane, a former military colonel who harbors a grudge against Batman and has made it his mission to one-up the Dark Knight in protecting Gotham. However, his disdain for vigilantes soon puts him at odds with the city’s newest caped crusader, who also happens to be his own daughter. Scott’s most recent TV credit is in the BBC show “The White Woman In White,” but the actor is most well-known for his film turns in “Mission Impossible 2” and “My Week With Marilyn.” Scott is repped by ICM Partners and Tavistock Woods.

Siega’s previous pilot work includes CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as “God Friended Me,” “The Following,” and most recently “The Passage” for Fox.
