‘The Crown’ Creator Peter Morgan Sets Netflix Film, TV Overall Deal

The Crown” creator Peter Morgan is staying in business with Netflix.

Morgan has signed a multi-year overall deal at the streaming giant for both film and television projects. News of the deal comes ahead of the premiere of “The Crown” Season 3 on Nov. 17.

In addition to his work on “The Crown,” Morgan is known for his work on films like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Frost/Nixon,” “The Queen,” “Rush,” and “The Last King of Scotland.”

The deal was brokered by Morgan’s U.K.-based lawyers Lee & Thompson.

“The Crown” has been one of Netflix’s most critically-acclaimed originals since it first launched back in 2016. The first two seasons have garnered 26 Emmy nominations and eight wins, including wins for both best actress in a drama for Claire Foy and best supporting actor in a drama for John Lithgow.

Season 3 will feature a new main cast, with Olivia Colman taking over as Queen Elizabeth II. Helena Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret; Tobias Menzies, the Duke of Edinburgh; Josh O’Connor, Prince Charles; Erin Doherty, Princess Anne; Ben Daniels, Lord Snowdon; Jason Watkins, Prime Minister Harold Wilson; and Charles Dance, Lord Mountbatten.

The series has already been renewed for a fourth season, which will feature the same cast as Season 3.
