Bella Hadid Wants to Make True Religion Cool Again

After filing for bankruptcy just over a year ago, True Religion is poised to make its return with the launch of its fall winter 2018 campaign. And who better to spearhead the brand’s revival than a one Bella Hadid?

According to a statement from True Religion, Hadid was “the natural choice to meld the iconic essence of the brand with the modern view of its future.”

Photographed by Boo George, the campaign is set in a glossy warehouse in Los Angeles where Hadid is maxing and relaxing in a crop top and a slew of mid-rise denim washes, all featuring True Religion’s trademark stitching and back pocket horseshoe logo , both of which had a powerful cache circa 2001. We’re guessing the crucifix necklace, bracelets, and a hip chain belt were the model’s own.

“It was a great experience shooting an iconic denim campaign in Los Angeles,” Hadid told WWD. “I grew up with True Religion and was excited to play a part of the brand’s next chapter.”

Hadid’s collection, priced between $40 and $300, also includes a western denim shirt and flared jeans that takes me back to the mid-aughts, a simpler time when The Hills was the only reality show we (I) cared about and velour tracksuits with rhinestones encrusted on the back were completely acceptable. All I need now is a pair of colored sunglasses. Happily, they’re all back again.
