‘The Kissing Booth 2’ Star Joey King Talks Netflix Movie’s Queer Storyline

“The Kissing Booth 2” sees the return of Joey King as Elle. Now a high school senior, she’s caught in a love triangle with the new guy at her school, Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez), and her longtime boyfriend, Noah (Jacob Elordi), who’s across the country at Harvard.

King said the cast wasn’t originally planning on a sequel.

“We only signed on for one, but then the fan reaction was incredible,” King said during an appearance on the Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket.” “When they asked us to do the second, it was a no-brainer.”

King also talked about the other romantic storyline in the move with two queer characters. “The more it’s normalized on camera, the more I think that people in actual schools will be more open and accepting,” “The Act” star said. “I just hope that our movie does inspire people in that way.”
