President-elect Joe Biden will appear on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” to ring in the new year.
Biden, who will take office on Jan. 20, will chat with host Ryan Seacrest ahead of the midnight ball drop in Times Square. This will mark the future president’s last interview of the calendar year. The event airs live, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Dr. Jill Biden will also appear on the program. The future first lady recently made headlines when social media users jumped to defend her “Dr.” title following a Wall Street Journal op-ed that argued she should drop the honorific.
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” will be headlined this year by Jennifer Lopez. The Times Square celebration is closed to the public this year due to COVID safety protocols.
Performances will take place on stages in Los Angeles and New York, with Ciara hosting the West Coast show, and Billy Porter and Lucy Hale joining Seacrest on the East Coast.
“In a year marked with many challenges, we are honored that President-Elect Joe Biden and Dr. Biden will join America’s most-watched tradition — ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ — to share an inspiring message as we come together to close out 2020 and look ahead with hope to 2021,” said Amy Thurlow, president of Dick Clark Productions, and Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment.
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” is produced by Dick Clark Productions, with Seacrest, Thurlow, Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco and Linda Gierahn serving as executive producers. Larry Klein is producer.
