Trump Rioters Storm U.S. Capitol (Photos)

Insurgents stormed the U.S. Capitol building on January 6th in an effort to disrupt the effort to certify the results of the national election, and disrupt President-elect Joe Biden’s presidential confirmation. This was shortly after the Pro-Trump “Save America March” rally held at the National Mall in Washington D.C.

The mob fought against the Capitol police and pushed their way through the wooden doors of the building, chanting “USA” in the halls. Members Congress were ordered to evacuate to a safe space while the invaders broke into their private offices including Speaker of the United States House of Representatives’ office Nancy Pelosi, leaving messages for the elected officials. Others already on the floor took shelter behind their seats until they too were lead to a safer area by a security team.

Shocked onlookers watched as members of the mob climbed the walls of the Nation’s capitol, stole a podium and sat in the speaker’s chair. One member tried to break through a door causing glass to shatter, in response Capitol police drew their weapons on the invader. In an attempt to stop the mob police released gas in the lobby, forcing members of Congress to utilize the gas masks under their seats.

President-elect Biden gave a short press conference demanding President Trump stop this “siege” on the Nation’s Capitol. Shortly after President Trump released a chilling video message to his supporters telling them to, “Go home,” but the President also told those that broke inside and disrupted the democratic process that: “we love you, you’re very special.”
