2021 EMMYS PREDICTIONS:
OUTSTANDING TELEVISION MOVIE

UPDATED: May 6, 2021

AWARDS PREDICTION COMMENTARY: This category is seemingly top-heavy, which has been the case the past few years. Amazon Prime has a trifecta of contenders including “Sylvie’s Love,” “Uncle Frank” and “7500.” HBO has a pair of films with “Oslo” with Andrew Scott and Ruth Wilson and last year’s “An American Pickle” with Seth Rogen.

Lifetime has a bulk of the slated contenders but their best shot seems to be “Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia” with Danielle Brooks.

You can also never count out Dolly Parton for anything, especially with Netflix backing.

The eligibility period ends on May 31 before nomination-round voting begins on June 17, concluding June 28. The Primetime Emmy nominations will be announced on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

This category has continually undergone rule changes and inceptions over the years, making it misleading to account for significant historical wins and nominations. “Black Mirror” is a series with the most wins at three while “Sherlock” has the most nominations at four.

On the network front, HBO has the most wins in this category with 22 while NBC is second with nine. Netflix is the first and only streamer to have won this category – for three consecutive years with “Black Mirror.”
