Intermix Celebrates 25 Years With a Capsule Collection of Party Dresses

“What will this brand look like in 25 years?” It’s a pertinent question almost every designer or figure at the creative helm of a brand asks themselves at some point in their career. Luckily for Intermix, 25 looks damn good.

“Since our first store opening on Fifth Avenue in New York, our customer shopped with us to find the perfect dress for any occasion,” Jyothi Rao, INTERMIX president, tells ELLE.com. “Twenty-five years later, she’s still doing the same at our thirty six boutiques and at intermixonline.com. This is what INTERMIX has been about since day one – collaborating with the most exciting designers to create unique and exclusive pieces that she can’t find anywhere else. We’re thrilled to launch our exclusive dress capsule collection to celebrate 25 years, and look forward to dressing her for the next 25.”

Since its debut 25 years ago, the retail darling has established itself as a premier fashion boutique dedicated to streamlining the shopping experience of its fashion-forward customers by offering highly-personalized services like curated style edits and complimentary stylists. The interweaving of styles from established luxury designers and emerging talents has always been the retailer’s forte, so to fete the special milestone, Intermix is marking its 25th anniversary with a 25-piece capsule collection of eveningwear designed by a cadre of big-name designers, including Jason Wu, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Cushnie et Ochs, Jonathan Simkhai, Veronica Beard, Tibi, A.L.C, and more.

“For us, it’s always about the mix,” Rao adds. “Our clients have an extraordinary number of events to attend from cocktail parties, to benefits, to family events and more. We wanted the dress capsule to be centered around dressing them for these events and celebrating the amazing women that they are. We worked closely with each designer to develop a dress that felt both authentic to their style and right for the INTERMIX woman.”

With the holiday season just months away, Intermix’s 25th anniversary capsule collection includes party dresses and timeless pieces that can be dressed up or down, like the satin Jason Wu dress that can be paired with heeled sandals for a night on the town, or toned it down with a leather jacket and sneakers for a cool-girl-off-duty look.

Or the sparkling Tibi dress that will land you “best dressed” at your office’s upcoming holiday party. “It’s fun and so versatile – you can dress it up with heels and statement earrings for a cocktail party or down with boots for a night out with girlfriends,” Rao says.

If you’ve been keeping a close eye on the resurrection of ‘80s trends in fashion right now, Cushnie has you covered, because nothing screams the ‘80s like an off-the-shoulder, puffy sleeved mini dress.

Regardless of which piece piques your interest, Rao says the main focus of the collection is to show the Intermix woman how to have fun with fashion. “She has a full life; she works, is involved with her family, always has an event to attend and wants to feel confident everywhere she goes,” she says. “She’s the woman who walks into a room and people ask “Where did you get that?” and her answer is usually Intermix.”
