The Montero Cinematic Universe is upon us!
Lil Nas X has announced the release of his debut album, Montero, with a trailer heavily inspired by Marvel Studiosâ opening sequence.
Just as Marvelâs opening theme places their extensive lineup of superheroes on display, this trailer features some of the most iconic moments from the musicianâs career â including sequences from âOld Town Roadâ and his 2021 singles. As the camera zooms out to reveal the âMonteroâ title, the cinematic music is cut off by blaring horns that transition into Lil Nas Xâs new single.

The 22-year-old artist has continued to push boundaries this year, most notably with the music video for âMontero (Call Me By Your Name)â a song that features the artist giving the devil a lap dance. Lil Nas X put on an Egyptian-themed performance of the hit song at the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday night, which ended with a steamy kiss with one of his male dancers.
The two successful singles âMontero (Call Me By Your Name)â and âSun Goes Downâ will be released on Lil Nas Xâs new album, which has garnished a lot of anticipation online. The artist told Variety on the red carpet at the iHeart Radio Music Awards last month that his next music video will bring something new â and crazier â to the table.
âI want to do something in a different lane thatâs crazier,â Lil Nas X said of what he envisions for his next music video. âIâm not sure what yet⌠âBut thatâs for when I make a main single or something.â
