The 32nd annual Gotham Awards is underway (watch it live here) the celebration that marks the official start of awards season and is often strong indicator of films and series are poised for continued success.
The event, which is hosted at New Yorkâs Cipriani Wall Street, will see performer tributes to honor seasoned Hollywood veterans like Adam Sandler and Michelle Williams, as well as special distinctions given to âThe Woman Kingâ director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Don Katz, Peter Kujawaski, Jason Cassidy and the cast of Huluâs âFire Island.â
Sidney Poiter, known for roles in films like 1967âs âIn the Heat of the Nightâ and 1958âs âThe Defiant Ones,â will also be honored with the Icon Tribute award, having died earlier this year at 94-years-old. âThe Harder They Fallâ actor Jonathan Majors, will present the award to Poiterâs family in attendance.
Continuing upon recently-established precedent, the award show will offer gender neutral categories for the second consecutive year.
